HMRC to clamp down on tax evaders
Richard Murphy is one of the few chartered accountants I respect and admire. He writes extensively about tax and although he and I do not agree on everything, he never engages in scaremongering. UK dividends and the higher rate (40%) taxpayer
If you do not pay tax or pay at the basic rate (20%) you will not have to pay any further tax on dividends from UK companies. If, however, you pay tax at 40% or, worse still, 50% there is additional tax to pay of 25% of the dividend received.
